Things you need to know, before we go.

What to Bring on Your Trip

To help you have a safe and enjoyable experience with B and Z Sportfishing, LLC, we recommend bringing the following:

  • A positive attitude- Fishing is fun, but can be unpredictable. While we do everything we can to put you on the fish, we cannot promise that the fish will cooperate. What we can promise, is that we will do everything we can to make sure you have a good time.

  • Hat and sunglasses – The sun can be intense on the water. A hat with a brim and polarized sunglasses are highly recommended.

  • SunscreenPlease use lotion-based sunscreen only. Spray sunscreen is not permitted, as it makes surfaces slippery and can damage boat finishes and equipment.

  • Water and food/snacks – Stay hydrated and bring enough food to keep your energy up throughout the trip. If you want to bring a small cooler for your personal drinks or food, feel free.

  • Any personal or prescription medications you may need – This includes emergency medications like inhalers, insulin, or EpiPens. We are not medical professionals and cannot provide or administer medications, so please come prepared.

Seasickness Prevention

If you are concerned about seasickness, we strongly recommend taking appropriate preventive measures before you board the boat. Many people use over-the-counter medications like Dramamine or Bonine, or non-medication options such as acupressure wristbands or prescription patches.

Disclaimer: We are not medical professionals and cannot give medical advice. These are common suggestions based on our experience, but you should always talk to your doctor or pharmacist to determine what’s safe and effective for you.

Important: If you wait until you feel seasick to take medication, it’s usually too late for it to help. Prevention is key.

Drug Policy – Zero Tolerance

NO DRUGS ARE PERMITTED ON BOARD.
B and Z Sportfishing, LLC is regulated by the United States Coast Guard (USCG). While certain substances (such as marijuana) may be legal under New Jersey state law, they remain illegal under federal law and are strictly prohibited aboard our vessel.

Any possession or use of illegal drugs on board will result in:

  • Immediate termination of your trip

  • Notification to the U.S. Coast Guard

  • Forfeiture of all payments and deposits

This is a zero-tolerance policy with no exceptions. If you are unsure about what is permitted, please ask before arriving at the dock.

Smoking and Tobacco Policy

At B and Z Sportfishing, LLC, we aim to keep the boat clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone — including future guests.

  • Absolutely no smoking or vaping is permitted inside the cabin.

  • If you must smoke, please do so sparingly and only in designated outdoor areas with proper disposal of ashes and butts.

  • Cigars, cigarettes, vapes, or any tobacco products should not interfere with other guests or pose a fire hazard.

  • If you dip or chew tobacco, do not spit on the deck. Bring a personal spitter and use it.

We ask that you consider alternatives to smoking while on board. Open air doesn’t mean open ashtray — respect the boat, the crew, and your fellow passengers.

Failure to follow these rules may result in the termination of your trip at the captain’s discretion.

Alcohol Policy – Drink Responsibly

At B and Z Sportfishing, LLC, we understand that fishing and a few cold beers often go hand in hand — we get it, and we’re all for having a good time. However, safety comes first, and we ask that all guests follow these simple rules:

  • Drink responsibly – Know your limits and stay in control.

  • Absolutely NO glass bottles – Cans only, please. Broken glass on a boat is dangerous for everyone.

  • The captain and crew cannot drink – Even if we’d love to join you, we are licensed professionals operating under strict U.S. Coast Guard regulations.

Important: Intoxication Policy

If any member of your party becomes excessively intoxicated, behaves recklessly, or creates an unsafe environment in the judgment of the captain or crew, the trip will be terminated immediately. We will return to port, and you will forfeit the full cost of your trip — no exceptions.

We're here to make sure you have a great time safely, and that everyone (including future charters) enjoys a clean, hazard-free boat.

Damage & Equipment Policy

At B and Z Sportfishing, LLC, we understand that accidents can happen and that fishing gear may occasionally fail under normal use. If a rod breaks during the fight of a fish, a reel malfunctions, or something wears out due to regular use — you will not be held responsible. That’s part of the sport, and we expect it.

However, if damage or loss occurs due to negligence, carelessness, or misuse, you may be held financially responsible. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Dropping or throwing rods/reels overboard

  • Mishandling or abusing tackle or equipment

  • Climbing, jumping, or standing in inappropriate areas

  • Ignoring captain or crew instructions regarding the safe use of equipment or movement on the vessel

While the boat is built to handle tough conditions, it is not indestructible. Intentional or reckless behavior that results in damage will not be tolerated, and you will be billed for the cost of repair or replacement.

Please treat the boat and all gear with care and respect — doing so ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
